Learn how to choose a hot dip galvanized steel light pole by height, wall thickness, wind load, finish, foundation and supplier documentation.

A hot dip galvanized steel light pole is usually selected for roads, parking lots, industrial yards and public outdoor lighting because it must resist rain, dust, sun exposure and long operating cycles. Before comparing quotations, buyers should define the installation environment. Coastal roads, high humidity areas and industrial zones need stronger anti-corrosion planning than a dry inland road. Wind speed, pole height, luminaire weight, bracket shape and foundation type should be considered together, not as separate details.
The most important purchasing mistake is treating every steel pole with the same height as equal. A reliable street light pole manufacturer should provide steel grade, wall thickness, diameter, taper, base plate size and anchor bolt layout. Common project poles may use Q235 or similar structural steel, but the right design depends on load and local standards. For road projects, height often ranges from 5 m to 12 m, while larger roads or special areas may require higher poles or double arm structures.
Hot dip galvanizing protects the steel surface by forming a zinc coating after the pole is immersed in molten zinc. This is different from simple painting. A galvanized steel light pole can maintain better corrosion resistance when the coating is continuous and the fabrication process is controlled. Buyers should ask about galvanizing thickness, surface inspection, drain holes and whether welding burrs are cleaned before galvanizing. If the pole also needs powder coating, the coating system should be planned after galvanizing instead of replacing it.
A road lighting pole is part of a full lighting system. Brackets, arm length, luminaire interface, cable entry, hand hole, base plate and anchor bolts all affect installation speed. For flange mounted poles, the anchor cage and concrete foundation must match the pole drawing. For direct burial poles, the embedded depth and anti-corrosion treatment are critical. The supplier should provide drawings that installers can review before production starts.
For export orders, documentation saves time during procurement and installation. Buyers should request product drawings, packing details, finish options, inspection photos and, when needed, certificates or test reports. Hengyin Light supplies street light pole options for outdoor lighting projects and can support custom heights, arms and surface finishes. The best result comes from sending road width, pole spacing, lamp power, installation country and wind load requirements before quotation.
Contact Hengyin Light with project drawings, installation height, quantity and destination country to get a practical specification and quotation.
